offline discussion has a bunch of life updates
I went to one of the best music schools in the country and then burned out real hard like two semesters out from graduation :)
But since then I got accepted to this coding apprenticeship that will either pan out to be a great opportunity or a scam. I did my research on this company so hopefully it all works out.
Either way I'm learning all the skills I've wanted to learn in my life so things are going ok I guess.
ugh you want me to make a realpost??? i only shitpost

that sucks, it happens. I went back to school four years ago leaning towards forestry, I did great my first year but I had to move to a bigger campus for the remaining years. After a talk with my first year's campus president who also majored in forestry, I decided to kick it. He didn't seem ecstatic about forestry, and he pretty much said there wasn't anything but the logging industry as a prospect. I'm sure there were other things to get into, but I really didn't want to leave the city I was in for some really bunk reasons (friends, a girl I thought I had a chance with ((it didn't happen)), etc. False epiphanies and all that. I tell people it was because of the money, which is partly true, but that was like at the bottom of reasons
My brother had senior-itis too, he got some form of a degree but he donked up a class or two. He knew he did bad and didn't want to look at whatever papers got mailed to him and would confirm as such. It's funny because he doesn't officially know, but since his "graduation" he hasn't cared for directing himself towards a career in communications and photo-journalism anyway.
But he's got an okay gig at Trader Joe's and funnels his money towards recording his music and making studio art.
My time in school and some non-profit conservation gigs afterward led itself towards a fondness towards plants, anyway. Now I got a job doing field research and practicing botany. It's been working out and it sounds like it's working out for you, too

sounds like a good life. a part of me wishes i had gotten more into web development, IT, coding, or whatever else because then I'd be sure to have an awesome PC with all the good game shit and just chill out into that realm
i should get a decent set-up soon, I'd really like to make illustrations on my computer, maybe even 'shop it and meme it up like I used to
instead i keep getting these garbage laptops or chromebooks and wonder why i have to get a new one every other year
web dev, at least front end, is kinda easy as shit. im like 90% self taught tbh lol. started as a hobby late in college and i've just kind of run with it; ironically my degree has done fuck all for my career lol
if you put in enough effort and come up with some pet projects to work on, you can learn it all online via youtube and other tutorials happydood;
no doubt. I've had friends in art school who had taken a web dev class just so they could make a website oriented around advertising their art. I always imagined their sensibility for a sleek minimalist aesthetic attributed to an easy make process as well
almost went to a web dev bootcamp but the tuition was very high and my realtor was a student from said school, which made me lose confidence
parents pursuaded me every conventional job was worthless and it overlapped very well with my own personal interests (painting, gestural abstractions, theology) which were all non profitable and useless
ended up networking and landed with supportive patrons and ex-art school friends that went into finance
i was satisfied with my lifestyle until I got engaged with a very nervous type
I'm supposedly too reckless and 'don't take anything seriously'
if I make terrible decisions with money and bankrupt myself would become a personal trainer, I'm just too lazy to complete my courses to get certified in training. I hate working in general

sounds like you're just doing you for the most part and that's pretty cool. Walk your own walk. I believe in you
Karel...yes, hello. Hi.
Hey dude I like your tree posts
thanks guys i hope i have more reasons to post them
My work-from-home stuff is sometimes contributing botanical drawings to our plant diversity learning center. Maybe I'll start cross-posting them here and give some detail about them. They just want leaves and flowers, though, so sometimes it won't comprise the entire plant
