I'm not sure if my parents will be more pissed that I am going to apply for a credit card without them knowing or that I will be using that credit card to buy a Macbook Pro.
Time to vote.

if you have the money to pay for it the n I DON'T see the problem

I'll have to get a job.
The card is interest free for the first year so I'd have a year to pay it off without them charging me extra
You aren't 18 so you can't get a credit card.
I'm sure your parents don't like you being on the computer 24/7. emo;

Like they care. If I leave my room my mom goes "Go back in your room, stop sitting around here" She constantly questions me when I go out with friends. All I can do without her bothering me constantly is sit online.

You think that.
Capital One and Chase(Their mastercards) both offer Student Cards to Minors.

Yes, I know that. No one has 3000 dollars cash to buy a new computer though. Not everyone is rich.
Second rule of a credit card, never pay just the minimum balance, pay as much as possible. I plan on doing that. 3 or 4 hundred a month. I'd pay it off before the 0% APR expires.

Check the fine print.
You'll either have a minimum payment and/or you're going to have accumulating interest that'll smack your ass when that year is up when you still don't have it paid off.
How old are you? Minors can't sign for agreements. You'll need a cosigner if you're under 18.
In addition, I doubt you qualify right off the bat for a $3000 credit line.

I'm 17, my 18th birthday is in 3 months. Getting my parents to cosign wouldn't really help me, their credit isn't the best--far from it.I'd have to get a grandparent to do it.
As for the the card
A 0% fixed APR for the first 12 billing cycles following the opening of your account. After that, 16.24% variable or 23.24% variable, depending on our review of your application and credit history.I'm certain that I'd be able to pay off the computer before the year ended.
And yes, of course I'd get a job before the credit card. They aren't going to issue a card to an unemployed person anyway.

They have to me.
And I'd avoid CapitalOne. You'll get fucked. Some way, some how. Look towards Chase or other alternatives if at all possible.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards Chase. Capital one has pretty high rates and and the credit line is 300-1500.
Chase has plenty of choices and I'll be able to find something useful.
Look, just save up the money FIRST, then buy it
Don;t buy anything without having the money to pay for it
Don't count your chickens before they hatch
Well, it's all about money. I defianetly think the Credit Card though, seeing as it's a lot deeper than a computer.
It's a different story if you don't have the money needed, though.

I need the Computer for college. No way I'll be saving 3000(It's actually 2700 or so) Before that.
I have a laptop but it doesn't meet several of the requirements. 1GB RAM, it has 512, but only 382 are showing up. psyduck;
Also, it doesn't have the required 2 hour battery life. It has 0 minutes. HP's power jack failed and I am stuck using a media cable to bypass the power Jack. my laptop has to be plugged in at all times.

1/3 good?
Depends on what your income does.
Also wait until you're in college with an ID and whatnot so that you can get a student discount from Apple.
Wait, your college requires a computer without providing it? That's nuts. You can't do work in a lab?

Yeah, I already have that figured in there. 200 dollars.
Everything is about 2700 total, then I get an additional 200 back after I submit the rebate for the free iPod.

I think you've really got to check out your priorities, too; what is the difference in the abilities you need to have between the MacBook and a MacBook Pro that would justify plunking down $1600 more dollars?
why don't you just get a cheaper Mac and put More Ram into yourself
why not a BlackBook or one of the Macbooks

Funny.
I really wouldn't base it on screen size, as the 13" is a widescreen.
Call their IT department, or whoever handles approval of what you can use a machine for, and check to see what minimum screen resolution you need, for whatever reason.
Otherwise we're going to run into the same bullshit that lies in behind Zack's 22" iMac.

Alright. I'll go down Monday or Tuesday and do that
The school accepted me but I never gave them my application. navi;
They already know I'm attending though.
Also, I might as well buy the best model I can right now. I'll be stuck with it for 4 years. It's better to pay a lot now and have a machine that won't be as outdated in 4 years, than have a machine that is outdated.
It's a Computer Science Degree. navi;
