ok so my brother, who has a bit of a learning disability (from a brain tumor he had as a toddler)
and lol i notice he's been going to some """meetings"""
it turns out he was being a sap towards these demanding amway shitters
my mother is baking him cookies for his "grand opening" at some sort of place where he's gonna sell his products. and she knows it's shit but at the same time she's still being supportive. meanwhile, my sister realized long ago he was getting himself into a pyramid scheme and confronted my brother but he was being too prideful and shut her off
though i just realized TODAY from searching scamway that it's a pyramid scheme. i just thought he was focusing on somethign else idk.
i hesitantly approached my brother and told him about it. and he asks me, "why are you being so negative." told him that people are gonna prey on your dreams to get you to do what they want. he takes offense to me a lot in general because i am a smartass to him here and there, but i told him in a calmer voice that i was just looking out for him. he didn't seem so fazed, which made me think maybe i turned on a lightbulb or smth
i briefly explained to him that these schemes want you to buy their product to sell to use him. lmao how do you make money when you have to buy products to sell???? online, where these cultists prey mostly, say that working a job is a pyramid scheme too. lmao dont kid urself, theyre not buying overpriced products to sell wtf.
some of my peers fall for this shit too wtffff
i can't help but feel some mixture of pity and moderate amusement whenever i see one of those poor saps selling knives or some other dumb pyramid product door-to-door
literally the only people who ever buy from them are their own family members who feel too bad to say no lol
it's always an annoying challenge to try to convince someone that they've fallen for blatantly obvious scam, because nobody likes to believe they're ignorant enough to fall for a blatantly obvious scam
even if you provide them with all the evidence in the world that they've fallen for a blatantly obvious scam, they just ignore you because obviously they know better lol
and then they become emotionally attached to the idea of being independent and entrepreneurial and m;cacml;dascj
at a certain point, all you can do it throw your hands up and say 'i don't look forward to saying 'i told you so''
