I can't be the only one that would just put an empty italics tag or something in between two letters of a smiley keyword to break it akudood;
i still use empty italics tags because i write most of my posts in the quick reply box and have gotten good at typing tags and emotes just as quickly as normal words
but yeah i also forgot you could do this

I don't like using this feature because the setting is lost when quoted. Something that you didn't want to be an emote becomes one only inside other posts' quotes. Empty tags don't have that problem.
i don't think i've ever actually looked at those boxes or any of the other crap there. maybe in one of those really high moments where i put on boyah and just let my self glaze over the screen until.i.come down and am able to post. but that doesn't count.
Sometimes I use it when I hide transparent text in posts so if somebody quotes it an emote appears.
I only use the moderation options on the right, which include lock, stick, and move.
I also have a file attachment button that I can't remember if regular users do too.
