Devo did an awesome cover of the Rolling Stones' Satisfaction (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvcuaJy9OwI&mode=related&search=)
Killswitch Engage has a cover of Dio's Holy Diver.
Sounds pretty kick ass to me.

Its pretty good. thumbup;
I like Sonata Artica's version of "Fade To Black".
Though Metallica's is still better.
Oh, and Strung Out's version of "Bark At The Moon", which I liked better than the original.
Trivium also has a cover of Metallica's "Master of Puppets."
It's decent.
I'm not the biggest fan of Metallica, but whatever.
I actually prefer Trivium's version a bit more.

DANG. When I saw this thread, I was thinking about that exact song. That's probably one of my favourite covers of all time. I really like the feel of it. Howard's one of the best rock vocalist in my opinion, and I really like how they put the metalcore spin on the song.
I think another cover I really like is He is Legend covering "Wounded" by Third Eye Blind.

On topic: Children of Bodom did a great cover of Slayer's "Silent Scream". thumbup;
booo metallica
A few artists recently covered Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band in honor of it's 40th anniversary. Oasis did a great cover of "Within You, Without You" recently. At first it sounds a little disjointed, but it comes together so brilliantly. Surprsingly, Razorlight did a good cover of "With A Little Help From My Friends". The vocals are spot on, must of been digitally manipulated. Pete Doherty and Carl Barât did a good cover of "A Day In The Life". Bryan Adams did a good cover of the title track. The rest of the covers I've heard have shitty vocals.

GODDAMNIT, HAVE YOU EVER MADE A POST THAT DOES NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH OASIS
The best cover song EVER is:
"You Keep Me Hangin' On" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNyRU0fKHAY) - Kim Wilde
OH YEAH. Especially when you compare it to the original.

Actually yes, yes I have. I was merely mentioning the cover due to the fact that all of the tracks from the tribute album has been released and considering this is a thread about cover songs I found it appropraite to post it here.

Whoever covered that Dio song did the best they could and didn't ruin it too much. Forgot who. Any cover of a Blue Oyster Cult song turns out great most of the time, Jimmy Hendrix did a great All Along the Watchtower which is probably more popular or well known with people then the real song, which I still love.
Any song Opeth covered was turned into instant gold overnight.
Graveworm's Losing my Religon cover, REM is the original artist
The many The Sound of Silence covers are pretty funny to hear but never are better or even worth listening to
Norther's Smash cover is actually really really well done.

Dylan covers, eh? I've found Rage Against the Machine's cover of Maggie's Farm to be better than All Along the Watchtower.
I will kill anyone who brings up Guns n' Roses' cover of Knockin' on Heaven's Door.

While not amazing I heard this song before the original:
Higher Ground - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Black Lab's Cover of the Transformers song is pretty good. wub;
