I've been praying everyday to president shinra for this.

Yes, I am mostly afraid of them making this into an action RPG. I personally still love turn based combat. The materia system was great too.

I don't know how I would feel if they added that lost bit about aeris coming back.

AHHHHH so much can go wrong!!!

it's really kind of a mixed bag. some tracks sound noticeably worse, while a few actually sound a bit better. most sound about the same though, so it's not a big deal

honestly, I kinda figured they would take a Kingdom Hearts approach to the new battle system, and honestly, it looks pretty cool.

Like, I would've loved if they kept a turn-based approach, but I'm fine with this for now.

RIP hype train, there were no survivors
i really hope this means they are going to expand the remake into other FF7 areas like Crisis Core or maybe even a game adaptation of Advent Children (since the tech exists now to do a graphically similar game experience); BUT IT'S SQUARE SO WHO AM I KIDDING THEY ARE JUST GONNA GUT THIS GAME INTO MULTIPLE PARTS  Reichdood;
how exactly does the newly released ps4 version of ff7 compare to the straight ps1 port i purchased on psn a year ago

i hear it's possible to turn off random encounters and speed up battles (ie make grinding slightly less of a game-ruining chore) in the new version, and both of these features would help to alleviate some of my concerns about this game

but i already paid for the ps1 version smithicide;

i'm not really concerned about trophies but those quality of life enhancements are significant

Significant enough to warrant spending a whole $10 on another copy of a game I already own, however, I'm not so sure. awdood;

if they couldn't remake this game because "it's too significant" to release on one go, then some might say they shouldn't have attempted this in the first place.

I suppose if they can even come close to doing this right, then we'll see.

EDIT: here's a thought....
what if each part equals each disc of the original release?  >.<

that means the last part better only cost like $5

Surely, if their excuse for splitting the game is that it's too big to fit on one Blu-ray, they should be planning to release each episode physically on its own Blu-ray (and will never release "FF7 remake collection" on one regular Blu-ray), right?

...right? >_<'

I would be totally ok with a small dip into the past and have them release this game on multiple blurays if that was the case.

and it would be a funny callback to the ps1 game.
Title: Re: FF7 Remake hype train
Post by: bluaki on December 07, 2015, 01:49:02 PM
That said, if the game really is too big for all episodes to be on one Blu-ray, a complete collection disc might be a good use of the new UHD-BD disc format if they really do end up making a compatible PS4 (or PS5?).

Nah, rather than a callback, that is more like a development problem and/or pricing scheme. This is what a callback to a multi-disc PS1 game is like:

200GB? Since when? Even BDXL is only like 128GB and that's an incompatible format with other Blu-ray readers.

Current PS4 models can't handle BDXL discs, only classic blu-ray discs at up to the dual-layer 50GB. Sony's expressed interest in making a PS4 model that  supports UHD BD-Video which by extension means supporting BDXL discs, but not necessarily for games.
