I don't foresee it being a problem but I'm moving boyah.net's domain registrar so it is possible there is a short period where DNS is wonky

if you have extended dns issues, you can always switch to google's public dns or edit your hostfiles and be super special

yes because
1.) gandi charges like 15 bucks for the .net
2.) it expires in 60 days
3.) my other 3 domains are on namecheap
4.) it's like 4 bucks
