When I deliver and someone pays with cash I have two options.
Ask "would you like change"/" how much change would you like"
Or count out change and give it to them only for them to usually give me a tip back
I like the former because 90% of the time they will give me a tip so it is overall faster. I usually give them a disclaimer like "it's cool if you want it all back" since I don't want to make them think that I'm making the tip obligatory.
And the latter sucks since it is less efficient and I think results in less tips overall lol
Thoughts
I think you're doing pretty good, sounds like it'd be fine w me
they hand me money and i walk away

if they go "hey wait i wanted change back" do you turn around and glare at them menacingly?
what's your average tip?
i usually take the food and shut the door
I pay with cards anytime I get anything delivered, because I usually order online.
I pay with a card and leave a note on the door to leave the food on the stoop to minimize human contact

what's your average tip?
$2 I'd say
There are some freaks who tip like $10 for whatever reason though
i usually make an offer "tip or top"
Or maybe southerners who are free of oppressive governmental fees are free to tip more?

nah chinese food.
It's all under the table. 5 hours of work usually nets me like between 70-80 bucks. Good days (i.e. rainy days) can get me like 120$' this is including delivery fees tho.
it was lucrative at first but most of the money goes into my vehicle. I've lived comfortably though. You're probably putting more of your money in your pocket i would guess. You deliver via bike right?
Once my bike is fixed I'll probably do more bike deliveries but I don't do them a ton anyway since Bellingham is really fucking hilly lol
But yeah they don't reimburse us for gas so I probably have to fill about a tank a week with my tips. I think I make around $15/hr after gas which is probably the most I'll make for a long time so I am content lol
stick your dong out through your zipper hole and they won't even think about asking for any money back
