Title: activity centered relationships
Post by: strongbad on April 14, 2014, 03:46:19 PM
How do you guys feel about these? Versus friends who you are friends with for the sake of friendship?

Sometimes I feel like I've lost a lot of good friends for focusing on certain things and the relationships that come from them, and while I've made a lot of good friends through smash or climbing or whatever I often miss my "natural" friends, where we enjoy each other's company for no external reason.

my gym friend and i originally met in japanese class 4 years ago but we never really talked much

we started going to the gym together around november and gym days are the only days we see each other lol

we've become super close though because we both went through some shit before we started going to the gym, so it became a semiweekly time to focus on self-improvement and helping each other out

making tremendous progress together at something really helps two people bond

but yeah i think friendships built around doing shit are great. it's much more positive than being friends with someone for the sole purpose of "hanging out" and getting drunk or whatever, but having some overlap is good
