no pool long time
there's always urine in every waters
poor people don't often have access to pools
and since my experiences were so spread out i'd have to completely relearn every time i went and that meant every single time was a horrifying experience with no progress
It's been a very long time since the last time I swam
but it's not like I don't know how to
I think this is a joke thread cus David capitalised every word
i was allways tall enough that i could walk on the deep end of whatever pool i was in so it didnt matter

ymca's do not exist in southern rural towns
most of my friends had those shitty inflatable pools that go up to six feet and i hit that in middle school.

Idk how people can say it's been too long, it's easier than riding a bike, you just move your legs and or arms up and down or in a circular motion

I can't ride one either girl;
My balance is fucked
1. Grew up in a big urban environment, no backyards
2. Grew up poor
3. Parents were very busy, and too poor to take me to a "pool"
4. None of my schools had a pool—not even my high school
5. By the time I was old enough to go to the YMCA or whatever by myself, I didn't give a shit
The pool is a wealthy man's venue. It is inaccessible to inner city children. I have a relative who purchased a home with a pool recently, so I'll be learning at his place during the summers, I guess.
i've only gone to a pool like 5x but could never learn within those times. ;_;

aww ;_;
childhood story time:
when i was like 10 years old- everyone i knew in my neighborhood learned how to ride a bike. well...my parents were always busy or tired when they had free time. so i just always would run to places the kids would ride their bikes to so we could hangout or something. then one day, i asked a 2nd grader, 8yrs old, if he could teach me how to ride a bike. i didn't give a fuk if he was 2 grades below me. he was still a friend.
so we went on a mini hill and he said, "okay u use my bike, and go down this hill. keep ur balance." we did this because i couldn't find balance on flat ground. so he held me on the top of that small hill, then ran and pushed me and followed me down until he couldn't- as if he was like my father lol. eventually i got the hang of riding his bike. but..i could only ride after the momentum of going off a hill and mainly go straight.
so later on, he moved. i missed going in his house talking about the paranormal and playing yoshi's island. but yeah, my first bike was a bike from a garage sale. i think it was only $15, but it rusted badly since i kept it outside a lot. i also crashed a lot and fell from it since it was so tall for me. my dad bought me a new bike...but it was a huge mountain bike. the times i used these bikes, i got into a lot of accidents- but would never break anything. a black guy would put an end to that bike by accidentally crashing into a tree (how???)
bought another bike. but yeah, with practice, i learned how to ride a bike with one arm, and somewhat with no hands. learned how to stand up while riding. and just not being a pussy when making sharp turns and going up or down from some stairs or curbs. sharp turns are still scary to me a bit. even narrow places don't scare me much. i know how to keep in my own trail, too- in the case of riding on the road with other cars to the shoulders of the road
currently, my bike's backtire is fucked. i used it many times to get into the downtown area of another town. but one time i jumped off the curb hard that it didn't feel "right" soon after that and now air always escapes from it.

That was very nice of your friend. My dad tried to teach me once but basically gave up after that until I was 15. I learned to ride in a straight line but that's about it. Tried again some years later and couldn't get going.
Bikes scare me because I feel so high up on them and with the added speed it feels like I would break something were I to fall
I'm probably the strongest swimmer on Boyah n_u
I used to pwn at butterfly

that's a reasonable fear to have. bikes can fuck you up. even if you aren't doing anything wrong your brakes can snap or a tube can pop

Yeah I think part of my fear is the horror stories and pictures I hear/see of broken bones, scars, blood everywhere, etc

Although statistically, bikes are safer than cars (idk where I heard this now that I think about it though lol)

In terms of fatalities or what? Speed probably plays a big factor I'd imagine because I think cars are safer than motorcycles huhdoodame;
im assuming they're safer because drunk people tend to drive more than bike?
bikes don't usually catch on fire or have frames that crush you
and you're usually not going fast enough on a bike to spill your brains
actually maybe i am wrong
QuoteBicycle fatalities represent less than two percent of all traffic fatalities, and yet bicycle trips account for only one percent of all trips in the United States.
