looks like this could be really fun
dynasty warriors with zelda, developed by tecmo koei
You should try a dw game.
Get warriors orochi 3
Or dw 7
ok but this isn't a thread to tell me that lol

but it is related.
Anyway, looking forward to it.
I will follow it and hopefully it is good
It seems like an oddly possible combo
Just take zelda, remove puzzles, add combos and more enemies, and boom
Looks cool, but really repetitive like the other dynasty warriors games.
I played the gundam DW they made and it was kinda fun

well thats the major complaint about dw
Thats why people dont like it much anymore
But it still has a major fanbase and they are tons of fun if you dont play them all the time

Yeah.
Compared to what people probably expect from the visuals of the real Wii U Zelda game, this certainly does look very disappointing. It's almost on par with Wii graphics.

i'm surprised it took you this long to post that tbh
but yeah dynasty warriors has had a rocky history of average or below average scores, it kinda survives on a cult following. it being zelda could make it a lot better, but we'll see. i'm really only hoping that it'll be a fun thing to play once it's cheap.
goowan
i'm really doubting it'll be any better judging by what we've seen so far
mediocre ps2 hakkanslash with a zelda skin, hooray wii u is saved
anything zelda is great for building hype about the inevitable full zelda game and the wii u in general though i guess
Quote from: A Fatass Penguin Named Tec on December 18, 2013, 04:43:11 PM

'hi, i'm a dynasty warrior game'
these games all have one singular purpose, cramming as many enemies onto the screen as possible
Uh I don't think the graphics look bad at all, in fact I thought it looked like a fake cg video and not even a real game. However the scenery looks incredibly sparse and bland, and the constant re-use of the same enemies is dumb.
Still, Link's character model looks great, and seeing him use that staff again was by far the coolest part of that video.
I'm not a big fan of Dynasty Warriors-style gameplay though (that bomb-throwing was so dumb)
oh and that transition from Link opening a chest to the unfinished Times New Roman title was hilariously bad

well you see, dw games aleays get bad scores cuz they hardly change from iteration to iteration
And people are tired of it.
And they release 4 versions of each number (empires, xtreme legends) and its a giant cash cow.
They are still fun but essentially the same
Also i agree with kaz, its nothingspecial but the graphics look good to me

Actually i think the biggest problem this game may face is number of playable characters.
If you can only play as link, then it will have literally no replay value, assuming the game works exactly like dw

Compared to every other outfit, his TP outfit has a darker shade of green and has a much more noticeable texture for details like fabric and hems that give it a hand-sewn appearance.
The Hyrule Warriors outfit has a scarf, blue gloves, shoulder armor, and glossier/regal-looking fabric
The other games' outfits biggest variation is in terms of whether he's wearing pants, gloves, and/or an undershirt. The undershirt varies between white (most 3D games), brown (most 2D games), and green (Toon Link)
but anyway, the difference in this alt costume isn't just clothes. Link's entire design, including hair color and face shape, changes to that of the Twilight Princess incarnation.

Even more characters, OoT edition: Ruto (the Zora), Darunia (the Goron), and Sheik.
Also Link and Zelda have OoT costumes. They adapted these designs quite well to high-polygon.
That makes four costumes for the main duo: OoT, TP, SS, and Hyrule Warriors Original

Nintendo itself isn't that big with DLC, although it is growing
New Super Luigi U is available as a DLC addon over NSMBU, although it's also available separate at retail
Pikmin 3 has a few DLC missions in Challenge Mode which were released a few months after the game that cost a total of about $10.
Mario Golf 3DS has a few characters as DLC that were released a few weeks after the game.
There's some baseball minigame collection on 3DS that is F2P with additional minigames as DLC
Mario Kart, Pokemon, and Pikmin 3 have some free DLC in that it's extra game content made available at a later date
Hyrule Warriors is probably developed more by the Dynasty Warriors team than Nintendo, so the DLC is probably more their fault. In Japan, these costumes are part of some special edition copies of the game, but I don't think US has confirmed yet that this is DLC at all.

looking forward to linkle's crossbow training as nintendo's next cheap lazy remake/spinoff to tide us over until zelda nx
I totally did notice how similar to that dragons crown chick she looks
http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/12/08/nintendo-keeping-linkle-in-mind-for-future-zelda-games
ugh
i think it's about time i divorced myself from this series
Actually I would love a game with female link as the protagonist
i wouldn't mind either way, but if linkle is her canon name in future installments, i'm not using it lol
it would also be neat to see a zelda game where you can choose between a male or female hero, but i suppose nintendo might concern themselves over which gender is truly canon in respect to the overall timeline. because apparently that matters.
It's not like I even use the name link all that often anyway. Usually only on subsequent playthroughs

Same, probably, even though I've always used the name Link in Zelda games.
I also wouldn't mind having Zelda as a protagonist.

Solution: branch the timelines yet again so they're both canon. Because surely it's already out of control so why not let the timeline spiral into pure madness.

Actually I would love a game with female link as the protagonist
i wouldn't necessarily mind this either
but if and only if it's literally just female link, no suffix necessary, the way male and female shepard in mass effect differ only in purely arbitrary ways
or, heck, even in a game in which female link is the only option, that female link must be
the link, and the game must not be substantially different for having genderbended
nor must it come off as lazy pandering, which hyrule warriors certainly is
i don't want to play a zelda which canonizes a protagonist named """linkle""", a completely separate non-character who originated as pure fanservice in some shitty $2 spinoff filler game
may as well shoehorn the cdi games into the timeline at that point
As for a playable Zelda, I'd like to see her maybe reprise her established role as Shiek, a massive and fascinating component of her character which was completely discarded after a single game. dittodood;

cue idiotic internet arguments about transgenderism in zelda[/spoiler]
new zelda game in which link is a girl and the game lightly pokes fun at the idea of a hero having to be male and makes its female link a positive female icon and incorporates female-positive messages
because:
1. it'd be a fresh change for the series
2. nintendo is generally good with these kinds of things, and a series as important as zelda would be a good way for them to show that they care about female representation
3. it'd be cute
4. it'd piss off shitty fanboys and this would be humorous
of course, i'm not talking about making it overly and stereotypically girly, that would destroy the whole point. but just...take the zelda formula and add these simple elements and i think it would be really charming
as for zelda herself, i would also love to see her in a starring role

None of these are good reasons for making arbitrary changes. akudood;
zelda is and has always been an apolitical series and i would rather it remain that way
why, and to whom, does nintendo have to prove that it "cares" about female representation (assuming it hasn't already demonstrated that it does)
even despite the lack of a female protagonist in zelda, female-positive messages have been (although infrequently) woven throughout the series in a way that isn't obvious pandering like this would be, and i would prefer that subtlety be maintained
a zelda starring a female link with an obvious and superficial "girl power" theme would come off as patronizing and insincere (because that's exactly what it would be), and you bet your ass that this shitty fanboy would be pissed at that

well, i didn't really mean it to be overly political, obvious, or superficial, i guess i just meant through simple dialogue or something? i'm talking subtlety here. and it wasn't a suggestion, it was just an idea of how it could play out should nintendo ever want to do anything like this
i feel like my post is being taken as more than what i meant it to be here. that's probably my fault though.
and i dunno, i never said nintendo HAS to prove anything, if anything nintendo's already proven they're pretty good about this stuff because they don't make anything overtly male-oriented to begin with
granted, a zelda game where link is simply a girl and that's that, nothing else changes, is also perfectly fine. i just think that if they wanted, they could have a little more fun with the idea. that's all.
forget i said anything tbh

uhhh you can make a lead character a girl without being all GIRL POWER about it and i'm pretty sure that's what nintendo would be intending to do lol
and its not even really arbitrary, there's like a fucking million heroes of time according to zelda lore, you would think at least one of them would be born without a wiener

i think they can have some fun with the idea too, but only in ways that are more incidental than overt
i think we're in agreement at this point that zelda should never feel as if it's lazily pushing some shallow, generic 'girls can do it too' message
no well-written ip should ever feel compelled to do something like that
rather if anything it should operate on the basis that girls
can do it too and thus it should never dwell on the fact that a girl does indeed happen to be doing it, which is why i took issue with your initial post lol
metroid has never needed hollow "female-positive" messages, samus just is and does, showing rather than telling
this is also true of mirror's edge, portal, super mario bros. 2, even pre-2013 tomb raider, and pretty much every good ip which has ever had female starring roles
counterexamples are things like super princess peach
if zelda is to have a female protagonist, i would hope for it to look to the former as models
honestly i wish linkle had some nice tits
she does, according to all the porn of her that already exists sillydood;
Porn that most already existed as rule whatever one is gender bending then was changed to be tagged as linkle
no...actual linkle porn, braids and outfit (or pieces of it) and everything.
