Title: old imac
Post by: strongbad on November 01, 2012, 02:13:12 PM
my friend is giving me his old imac g4 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMac_G4) and i am trying to figure out what i could do with it
it's currently running osx (idk which edition specifically yet) and he says that it's slow as balls. i'm guessing another os would be better. any in particular?

i'm thinking that it could be cool to turn it into an emulation machine using something like puppy arcade: http://scottjarvis.com/page105.htm

any suggestions? would also be kinda cool to mount near my bed for watching movies and shit in bed since the display is pretty nice

edit: i think i'm going to install xubuntu. what do you guys think about that?

its not easy to install most OS's on legacy powerpc CPUs
it was like apple's unbeatable hardware DRM
i would install OS 9 on it and play old 90s games made for macs
