You forgot the part where they go to Lester's Possum Park
Now that I think more about it, the Goofy Movie is a commentary on a teenage existential crisis.
Max longs for his transcendence, but believes that his father restricts him from any sort of freedom. So he backlashes by rejecting his facticity which causes him to delude himself into a fake reality. He's trapped in something worse than a Sartrian Bad Faith scenario because Max refuses to recognize either his inherent freedom or his factual existence.
And Goofy is clinging so much to his past, he's forgetting to recognize his inherent freedom and the freedom of his son. Really, the villain of this movie is Goofy for putting Max into psychological duress because of his static nostalgic condition.
Let this movie be a warning to all parents.
