I go through periods of "why the fuck am I still doing this" and the occasional "what have I actually taken away", but then when I screw my head back in just right, I realize I have a few marketable, finished products that I can show to anyone, some really useful contacts I've made through networking and a nice little bank of knowledge and insight that I can show off to the stranger on the bus.

It's a love hate relationship. Call me moody.

Plus, those occasional "hate the system" splurges has pushed me into reading up on different bases of knowledge and information that I am happy to have encountered and probably wouldn't have encountered if I hadn't been feeling so weirdly low.

You make your own silver linings. If you're not happy with something, stop puling and find a way to fix it.

Yes, although right now I hate it because these 17 credits are kicking my ass. I've never had any labs before this semester and now I have two... they are hugely time consuming. In two weeks I will be done, however, and I will surely begin to miss all of the good times I had because there were plenty of them.

I don't really want to move on just yet and I think that pretty much summarizes that it's something I feel was special and will be ultimately irreplaceable

Eh, I don't really know.
I haven't really started my major yet, so I feel like my opinion is fairly invalid, but in terms of my education thus far, no, I am not satisfied.

However, the experience as a whole has been life-changing. I like myself so much more than I used to. I like my friends so much more than my friends from high school. I like being (somewhat) on my own and being (somewhat) more accountable for my actions. It's ridiculous how much more confident and comfortable with myself I am now than I was a year and a half ago. I don't know if this is due to college itself or just the fact that I jumped into a new environment and stepped out of my shell a lot more, but it is definitely a good thing.

I'm really worried about post-college though, especially with a psych/comm major. I just need to start jumping on internships and shit like that to make myself more appealing to future employers.

The things I enjoyed in College were things that I could teach myself (art stuff) so I figured that it was a waste of money because you don't really need a degree in art. Also I had very little patience with College because I hated taking the "core" classes and just wanted to learn about some fucking photography or theatre or whatever.

I'll more than likely go back when I have a clear idea as to what I want to do as a career. Going to school just to get some bullshit degree didn't seem worth it at all.

Mostly, yes.

I strongly dislike university requirements in core courses and unrelated-to-major electives and I feel like those classes waste my time and effort when teaching a broader variety of subjects was the task of all primary and secondary education. When I'm paying for a Computer Science or Software Engineering education, it's rather disappointing especially in early years to have less than half of my classes (or in the case of my next Fall semester, only one of six classes) involve computer science.

Maybe it can be argued at least for computer science that programmers can use ideas from other fields of study for certain tasks, but history/humanities classes remain useless with this purpose and English/Psychology basic courses don't really touch on topics I'd imagine to be useful for this purpose like grammar analysis/parsing or ideas relevant to AI or user interfacing/management.

Within computer science classes, however, it feels very worthwhile and interesting. Although I didn't really like Calculus 3, the only math course I've had so far, I'll probably like most of the other math courses too.
