most people in the cs department are socially inept so we're never given group projects in any class

My current class (Algorithms and Data Structures, the third main CS class) has a group project. I've heard that the intention of working in a group is to prepare for careers where typically people must work together and whose employers seek those familiar with working with others. I believe the senior projects are also done in groups, but I haven't heard of any other CS classes with a group project.

Because we were told to pick groups of four people on the first day of class when I only knew one classmate at all, half of my group is useless and probably won't contribute at all. I'll probably write most of it myself with that one other person at least contributing some.

The majority of my CS department doesn't seem all that socially inept to me, but that might just be because I'm so extremely socially inept that everybody else looks super social in contrast giggle;

Group projects only suck when you're forced to work with strangers.
