hey look, a legitimate thread
my first job was making pronto pups with a traveling food vendor around southern minnesota. my dad pretty much just sent me off with this old lady all summer when i was 13. she had me work 16+ hours most days.
i made pronto pups (corn dogs), foot long pronto pups, foot long hot dogs, pork burgers, cheese on a stick, snow cones, cotton candy.
she had a refridgerated truck and she called it her reefer and i loved it. she also drove an old ambulance that she painted pronto pups all over. i got ot drive that once, that was cool. but god damn she made me stay all alone in crappy little trailers at the carnivals and all of those people are so creepy.
i guess my first legitimate job would be the position at the chinese restaurant which i held for 4 years. i think it was a big reason that i love cooking/am great at cooking now
jobs were scarce during my first year of college, then the summer after that i got a position as a general maintenance worker for the university.
i got to deep clean the air conditioned university apartments while the rest of the schmucks were stuck cleaning the dorms. the apartments were much more difficult though.
we worked on probably 3 or 4 apartments a day, and cleaned them more spotless than any of you bastards have ever done before (just for emphasis)
i recently quit an electronics assembly job that dealt with some pretty cool stuff. we were making boards and components for ibm watson and the jaguar supercomputer.
but now i work at a place called colorware that does custom paint jobs for electronics and shit. i guess they're like one of the only places that does this kind of thing? so they get a lot of "famous" clients. david schwimmer, seth green, deadmau5, fergie, will.i.am, etc.
my job is to sand, buff, and polish the paint jobs at the very end
so yea what have you guys done
and for that chunk of you who have still never had a job...get to it
make me
For my first job I was a canvasser (essentially a door to door salesman) for a contracting company, trying to convince people that they needed new doors/windows/siding for their houses. It was a really interesting first job because almost everyone that initially worked there was a heroin user, a dealer, or had served a sentence in the state pen. It was a pretty stressful job because you had to set up sales to keep your job, but getting $8 an hour plus commission wasn't too bad... Plus half the days I'd get smoked up when driving to our neighborhood of the day, so all in all it was pretty fun especially since I worked with two of my best friends. I worked there for two summers and most of the employees that I worked with are back in jail now.
I also developed a slight fear of big dogs from that job since Rottweilers and German Shepherds would go insane if I approached their house. I also got bitten by a Weimaraner and got trapped between some hedges lining the path to a door by some big mutt that proceeded to chase me down the street even after I dodged away from him.
My second job, which I have right now, is working in the kitchen at Noodles & Co. making all of the American dishes on the menu. It gets pretty hectic since it's a block away from the state capital and the overture center so any time something is going on in Madison, we get swamped. I think I'm just making minimum wage, but I'm working with friends again at least and everyone is really nice so it's not too bad in the end
if i ever go to madison (which is possible), i'll stop by noodles and co and say whats up
Horse feeder
Grocery Bagger

I've worked at GameStop for a year and it's my first "real" job. It's pretty fun but the clientele blows. It's a great job to have though, discount is nice and I get free stuff all the time.
Also my coworkers are great.
i wish i could get back into gaming. i'm so far from it i don't even have a tv

soon to be .. .. unemplooyeed * don knots cool shades *
My only job was being a programmer for a large research project at my university. I was working for the department of epidemiology and handling large sets of data, trying to find correlations between social groups and their smoking habits.
We ended up discovering that smokers have larger social circles and people tend to approve of their friends' smoking and disapprove of friends who don't smoke. akudood;
It was a great job and I'd like to get involved with something like it again.
I'm currently in IT for my school's computer science department, it's my first job of any kind, and I started in October
So far I've mainly worked on one project of a computer presentation sign thing in the lobby of their building and its automated updates and a web interface for modifying its content.
I worked a paper route for 2 years in 7th and 8th grade.
After that, I was unemployed until after high school graduation. I then became a busser and dishwasher at a restaurant for a year and a half. The owner is a giant fucking asshole, but I needed money.
I quit the restaurant after getting a job at a grocery store as a deli worker. I've been there a year now and I also went back to the restaurant one day a week after being gone for 6 months.

how do you like the job overall?
i have a good friend high up in IT at my school, and he's very persistent on offering me a pretty damn good job in the department because he knows that i capable, but i can't accept until i'm a student again. it is very tempting, but i don't know if i want to strive for that job, or just forget about it and go for one that i can get right now

I like it so far, but I don't really feel like what I've been working on is representative of what you should expect from "IT". It's also extremely lax.

fist job i ever had was gunning down wild indians and taking all of their money and toys, sometimes candy too. but i got busted by the chief and the rest is history.
then i had to keep the field clear of lizards so the wheat stalks could grow nice and tall, but then it was impossible to whack them all so i thing this was a fools errand which i embraced and excelled at.
then came the formality of life, and for this a mere few words can be said, and i don't really want to.
