Title: The Valspar Memorial Access Project
Post by: applesauce on February 27, 2012, 06:23:00 PM
I thought a few of you might enjoy reading about a little project I am working on.

It is to enable easier access to a sewer system that feautres some pretty nice brick tunnels. Currently, in order to get in you have to lift a massive floodgate, which takes three people and crawl under, and the rest have to wait outside because it cannot be opened from the inside. Also, there is an insurmountable 6 foot shit waterfall.

So, I built this ladder:

I also bought a chain and a padlock, to be used to lock the floodgate open while we are inside. The secondary use of the padlock and chain will be to lock the ladder up so it doesn't get washed away. We will be going to install them tonight.

We have named the initiative the Valspar Memorial Access Project, after a large paint factory that was nearby and fun to explore before it was torn down last summer.

Well, went to home depot, bought all the shit, carried it all lumber and all on the bus home, built the ladder, carried it 2 miles and up a drain, used a chain and padlock to hold a floodgate open, and then used the ladder to climb a shit waterfall. Then locked the ladder to a stepiron so it didn't wash away.

I mean it sounds like a project in the normal sense just not a project in the kind I interpreted it as based on the title (where a large team would be assembled for some great accomplishment a la The Manhattan Project etc)

i didn't mean to that scale necessarily, just something more substantial in it being a committed kind of endeavor.
