hahahahaha I can't wait to hear what snorkel says about this
why is it WEIRD
hahahahaha
that's the shittiest shit
it's awul
my god, it feels like windows seven came out yesterday :'(
it's so bad that you can actually see the pixels where they tried to give the white horizontal line "depth"
true story: I created the logo
what on earth
seriously, what the fuck are they thinking
I think it looks just fine.
josh topolsky, the hipster formerly from engadget and now of the verge, suggests this lol:
but something like (http://cdn2.sbnation.com/imported_assets/988504/Windows_208_medium.png) keeps it more in-line with the branding used on the other metro ui system, windows phone
somebody got paid WAY too much to design this
its not bad, just really pedestrian
i mean their reasoning to make it look more like a window and less like a flag, etc was all good in theory, it's just horrible execution.

i agree, that actually looks alright. I think they just want it to be something surprising and different, seeing as microsoft's always perceived as being boring and outdated. It makes sense that they're try to change it up a lot.
it's awful

four blue screens
doesn't that hold a negative connotation to microsoft

It looks like a window
I approve thumbup;
meh it's not horrible
and it's just a logo
but the phone/desktop integration does scare me. i'll just use linux if i can't handle it i guess
too templar, but hey, at least it makes me feel good for having windows 7.
i actually like the interface for windows 8, but i'll have to try it out before seeing if it's better/worse than win7
i wouldn't want it to be any more simplified and whatnot though, the direction they're going in is a bit concerning. luckily you can switch to a standard interface on 8.

^this new AeroLite theme looks wonderful O_0
also, looks like they're getting rid of the start button and replacing it with a "charms bar" that comes up when you hover over the right side of the screen:

ribbon on windows explorer:

looks very disjointed right now but it's definitely coming along more since the previous version I saw. I'm thinking by the final version we'll have a really nice-looking setup for those who don't want to use the tablet ui. wrench;
As for the new logo, I still think it's pretty mediocre but I don't really hate it. It kind of makes sense with everything.
Oh, and a consumer preview will be available Feb 29th. hocuspocus;
still looks like a flag 5thgrade;

Well once everything becomes a touch screen...
imagine once you have to use a specific app store for all of your application needs? myface;
