Ever notice how much of the world is assumed? And the power we take for granted. A building gives substance, to power and dimension, it can have stock, become a legal entity, and ultimately, represent some idea in abstract. I don't know, I just ignore this, and you would think it might make everything seem hollow, but in fact, that's when the complexity arises.
