http://boyah.net/JMV290/Boyah%20Statistics.pdf
Now that December has ended I could complete the document that had not been updated since September 2009. Statistics for every month since our founding have been included and graphed. Each year is included in its own graph. The end combines all four years of Boyah into a single graph.
Enjoy. giggle;
;o
So Boyah has always been a trouble child
That last graph of posts per month that shows every month is pretty cool, it shows a definite downward trend, with the later end of this year starting to pick back up towards the activity of '09
If we actually make a push to get more members, have interesting things going on, etc, I think we could get up to a comfortable area of around 1200 a month, somewhere around late '07 to mid-'08 in terms of activity. In my opinion that would be the ideal level, because I like being a small forum but we still have weird spans of nopost,
By 1200 per month I hope you mean topics. akudood;
Otherwise we'd be NSF.
cool story clucky
i helped RUB IT

i think we'd have to put boyah out of its misery if it ever became that bad :(

Oh whoops, I was looking at the wrong graph. Yes for topics, I meant around 30k posts.
AWESOME
That steady increase at the very end of last year's and the overall graph... giggle;
By the way, the goal is to get back to 2008's levels of activity, where months in the 20,000s were comparatively low.
also, i will be setting goals a bit more difficult than simply "beating last month" from now on in order to hopefully speed up the process jackodood;
it won't happen unless there's a lot of shitposting (and there has been) or we get a good number of new members
i like how the last page all so suddenly conforms to ISO 8601 sillydood;

this is implying that we post anything other than shitposts
Most Online isn't particularly interesting outside those two days
What happened with registrations this summer?
I like how boyah's history is annotated with numerous outages, losses, anomalies, and general fuck ups. BUT WE PREVAIL
I will argue that the current upward trend of activity is actually happening in an alternate timeline where the apr2010 crash didn't happen, except delayed 1.5 years. basically we suffered concussive trauma and are only now remembering what happened in those 3 months and picking up where we left off.
also jmv can I have the analytics login ... if we still use analytics bassir;

NSF sucks. This place is much better. The users here are more friendly, well-versed in etiquette, and have an exhilarating sense of companionship and warmth. You guys are my heroes, and I hope to learn your ways so that I may too become a better person.
Surprisingly yes, it is more welcoming here.
Are you guys being sarcastic or serious? I know sometimes I get the feeling that some users are very apprehensive to newcomers which scares people off sometimes.
Other users are more welcoming though.
I was serious. Back years ago, the way that some of you guys that went to NSF acted, it did not really make this place seem all that welcoming or nice. (At least that's the way it seemed to me anyway.) But I do think Boyah has definitely matured over years as people got older and you guys are really friendly for the most part.
And the last time I was at NSF, it had really gone downhill as far as people's general disposition and how almost everybody conducted themselves and treated each other.
NSF existed after Snorkel sold the domain?
Yep. They had a copy of everything, got a new domain name, and then somebody put down some money for a server for a while and then Vattix hosted NSF for a while and I think Silverhawk might pay for everything now but I'm not sure at all about that part.

I feel this way.
I try to welcome newcomers, I think. But I guess the way we're all sort of chatty amongst ourselves can make it hard for new users to get ~in the group~ although I don't think we purposely make it that way, it's just that way naturally.
That's why I can't get into new forums and become active elsewhere. I don't really feel comfortable coming out of nowhere and trying to insert myself into other peoples conversations and acting familiar with people I don't even know.
on NSF i generally acted like a self-absorbant jackass and they ate it up lol

They all do now. And the ones that didn't either left or started acting like that.

That too. There are most likely more reasons than members as to why it's died.

I think like Hippo. Sometimes it's like ya you belong but still I feel excluded or maybe better would be not noticed. Makes it hard to post. I just consider that I can't be as active in things as some others here. saddood;

Here I think most people welcome input. Just don't pretend you have been here forever and most of us will help you become familiar with people and the history of Boyah.

we used to have an intro board, and i was its mod and i let people in or sent them away n_u
but really almost everyone was allowed in anyway
i made an intro thread based but we don't get any new users so there really isn't a point lol

er, i meant to say we used to have a guest board
you know, like outsider's old one
that was essentially our intro board at the time too lol
and i think later after we had done away with the guest board we had a "normal" intro board
he means that he passed judgement on people to see if they were worthy of doodthing or not
