Title: jibblets, gizzards and obscure things
Post by: Socks on November 24, 2011, 11:43:46 AM
I love hearts, spleens, kidneys, livers, necks and all kind of internal organs and pieces when it comes to poultry. They all posses a distinct and delicious flavor.  What is your favorite part of the Turkey? I mention this because I just went downstairs and the first thing I saw on the tray was the heart, which I speared and devoured.

You should. In our cultural tradition is is customary for the head(s) of the household to consume a sheep's head during festivities. Last Christmas eve my father and I split this lamb's head. The tongue, eye fat, and cheek muscles were delicious. And the brain was the best part, even if a little salty.

i've eaten turkey heart before

it's chewy and hard

chicken gizzards are chewy as well but flavorful and delicious, although it's impossible to find them in stores these days

but i like wings most because they get crispy easily

Oh Socks  lubdoods;

I was going to ask you to marry me. Someday I will.

Also Lawlz, it has nothing to do with it, but historically and cultural wise, yes, my mother's side of the family is a very secular Balkan Sunni variety from the Ottoman days. My father's side is a pretty laid back Christian orthodox. I am agnostic and we are non religous.
