The King of Limbs
or Gravity the Seducer

and
(http://i.imgur.com/84ggq.jpg)
are tied. I can't choose between the two.
I've had a couple of favorites. This was a good year for me.
SebastiAn - Total
Now that is some dope-ass French House, boy. I especially love Embody, which I've listened to 29 times according to larst fm.
Nero - Welcome Reality
I don't know much about dubstep, but I know I love this. Damn, Doomsday is so great.
TesseracT - One
I did a double take when I realized this was released this year. I don't know what else I'm going to put on this list at the moment, but if I had to choose one album as my favorite of the year, this would be it. Anyone here who listens to anything remotely close to metal should listen to this. Brilliant atmospheric djent. One of a kind. Sweet baby jesus listen to this, people. psyduck;
Devin Townsend Project - Deconstruction
Ugh, I should have put TesseracT last, it's not fucking toppable. But this is really good as well. Devy def. brings it. Oh god, the opening track. RUB IT
(http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/9062/hakenvisionshd350.jpg)
Haken - Visions
Okay, this won't be to everyone's taste, this is prog beyond prog as far as prog metal goes. But this album made me remember why I love prog metal in the first place.
lol my comments are retarded

So is this like the only new album you listened to this year?
And I'm going to have to go with this:
Just because it's fucking Primus.
I bought it recently as an impulse purchase at Best Buy, I never listened to her before hand. Her voice is very atmostpheric, and musically some songs lean to the industrial side of things. Atmospheric industrial? I don't think that is an adequate way to describe this album, but whatever. The way her voice is so...cloudy is reminiscent of Michael Stipe's voice. Not that they sound similar, but they both had a way of singing things without you actually knowing what they're singing. It works really well on this album, and I've listened to it constantly.
A nice compilation featuring latin american musicians paired with American musicians. Red Hot has been making these compilations for years, and I always enjoy them.
This album is full of crazy vocals. Bizness and Gangsta are songs that I belt out while driving. Some of the weirdest pop music I've heard in a while.
Strange Mercy by St. Vincent is the first St. Vincent album I loved on first listen. On her last album, she had not so emotional lyrics juxtaposed to stringed instruments. This time she reversed her songs, making a deeply personal record with electronic instruments. The results are great.
most of you have heard this stuff, as I'm sure they've been big staples on the p4k site.
lol notsid, no one here reads pitchfuck ifeelbetter;

Because it's popular, it's safe, it's uncontroversial. Therefore I am a sheep or read pitchfork or something
Usually seems to be how it goes

I did a bit better than last year but I've still barely listened to anything from 2011. Out of what I have heard, these I consider to be good:

Boris with Merzbow - Klatter

Kashiwa Daisuke - 88
I still wish he made something more like what he's best (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEAEmwBbMT8) at (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByD5ORT6Mcw) but that's alright.
