When I make a comfortable amount of money, I'm going to go out and buy an orchard, something that's failing and needs to be maintained.
Something that's kind of by itself way out there.
Maybe apples. Maybe cherries.
Not grapes. No vineyard.
Then I'm going to work out there watering and killing bugs and harvesting shit until my fingers bleed and I'm about to pass out, but I'll be able to stand on my porch at twilight and look over the whole thing with a glass of cold water in my hand and nod for a while.
Do the whole "yes, this is good" nod on my porch.
I don't want to wait until I'm too old or anything, but obviously buying land with numerous fruit trees on it is going to cost a few pennies.
It would be rather nice I suppose... Would that be a business type venture or just for kicks?
Also rather obviously:

Business kicks.
I've had an identical vision before. Really all I want in life is a nice plot of land with an orchard and garden to care for, not too far from the ocean, make sure the land gets what it needs and can flower freely, maybe rescue some dogs and make it a sanctuary. Screw the money, as long as it can pay for itself.
"garden" ;)
All I really want is a nice place to live and the freedom to drive wherever I want to. I don't want to travel in the typical vacation sense, I just want to see all these different places.
I think the real beauty of it is the fact that it's a physical representation of your efforts and hard work.
I mean, something that you can look at and say, "I did that" you know? That's the most satisfying thing, to be able to look at something you worked hard to make.
But fuck that. I just want to be able to eat my own apples.
i think there is some primal urge in every human to be able to live off the food you grown.

Yeah. He's a news reporter covering the closing of the offices of the "banana corps" (apple corps).

Maybe I'll make my own tea farm. Plenty and plenty of tea.
