Agreed, the site should have been rapidly rebuilt and repurposed into something awesome, not to distract attention from the fact that it was a national tragedy but to prove a sense of "this is how we move move forward constructively, regardless. we will not get stuck in fear and revenge"

Doing the yearly remembrance thing makes sense, but we do make too much of a deal of it.
I agree that we should have built even better towers as quickly as possible, but I don't care for the ones dav posted. Maybe they could have put a memorial wall to decorate the area with as well.

7 WTC (the shorter one in the background) was complete in 2007
