When I lived in Hawaii, I remember we had a tsunami scare, but it never hit. In Montana forest fires are the major threat. Currently we're swamped under a giant cloud of smoke due to fires. This picture was taken right outside of the town a few days ago:

I kind of find them beautiful....
We also get floods and the occasional weak earthquake, but nothing major. I guess we get multiple avalanche kills a year as well, but I've never seen one.
well the recent earthquake, floods in the past and are probably going to occur again here in the next few days, and hurricanes
dat 1998 ice storm goowan
I was in a tornado zone before... the sky turned green and everyone had to head to the basement, but I never saw it and it didn't hit very hard or in our immediate vicinity. That's about it though
A lot of tornadoes and accompanying freak hailstorm conditions in MN, that's it though.
And massive blizzards if that counts.

LoL oops
And I experienced a couple of them too. goowan
i've had several tornados nearby, but never seen actually seen one with my own eyes
driven though a couple floodzone areas but that was only seeing the aftermath, not seeing it actually happen
so i guess i'd just vote tornados
i have never been in contact with a "natural disaster"
An earthquake, which was not more than the slight tremor we experienced a few days ago. I don't even think that counts. :|
Drought that lasted years, couple ice storms, tornadoes but nothing real major or particularly close, some small earthquakes, hurricanes but nothing that really affected this far inland, and I think there have been some forest fires in places that far away from here.
Tornado.
During the outbreak in the spring.
Tornadoes though I haven't seen them
hit by a couple hurricanes through my life
earthquakes, forest fires, and whatever else I clicked happened too
Earthquakes because I live in California.
I've seen maybe 4-5 tornadoes in my life. Nowhere I've ever been has been hit, though there have been several pretty close. In 2009 several tornadoes beat the fuck out of some blocks within a mile of my house, but we were good. Have had trees go down (and crush our car) to straight line winds. Also damaging hail, streets/freeways flooded over 6 feet deep from super rain.
But never any serious disasters. Like I said, other than some closeish calls, all we've ever had was my mom's car being crushed, losing some trees, and some minor basement flooding.
This was less than a mile from my house, and happened regularly. I've actually been planning on exploring that drain sometime soon.

i want a tornado cry;
There have been tornadoes in my home city, but not near where I live
There's been many hurricanes whose projected path was at some point colliding with my city (Tampa), but one hasn't actually struck in my whole life
The weather alert services almost constantly issue a flood warning to my area, but I've never heard of a significant flood in my county
irene will be less than category one by the time it hits me
great :|

yeah you might want a tornado or a hurricane to hit you.
But once the meteorologists put up the warnings and the watches and a tornado actually hits your area you'll be scared shitless akudood;

I usually just get annoyed that the sound of my tv show is being interrupted girl;
earthquake
tsunami
flood
i've been in plenty of tornado warnings and seen a handful of tornados in my lifetime living in small town 'merica
i suppose blizzards too
for the most part tornado warnings just end up being a nuisance
Floods
Tornados
Ice storms
that's about it

Come on Nyerpy-poo. We all know that in this context we're talking about natural hazards. Boyah isn't a technical place.
We can be dumb if we want tooooo~~~~~~~~~~~~

yeah really
i've been in so many watches that they never mean anything to me, and as for warnings? sure they mean a tornado has been spotted in the vicinity of my
county but it's still rarely meant there's one actually near enough for me to know the difference.
i've been in tons of warnings and still never seen a tornado goowan

nobody uses "natural disaster" and "natural hazard" separately in day-to-day speech anyway

you usually wouldn't need to label something as a "natural hazard"; you'd probably just call it what it IS instead
it is incredibly retarded to call some small tornado that killed/injured nobody and destroyed nothing a "natural disaster"
then you come up with a phrase that conveniently groups all of these things together as easily for simple day-to-day use, nyerp
come on, come up with one
i can't wait to hear it

I understand. I found it incredibly retarded when writing the thread. At the time, I just couldn't think of a better word to describe the whole group.
But, as we can see, natural disaster works. bassir;

unless i'm simply drawing a blank, i really don't think there is a phrase that fits it better other than "natural hazard"
and we all know nobody uses that girl;
