Title: preoccupation with foreign cultural histories
Post by: snoorkel on August 16, 2011, 01:14:37 AM
most of you will probably answer japanese.

do you have a strong interest in or inclination toward some foreign culture? I've always been particularly interested in indian, persian/mesopotamian, east african histories and philosophy.

when i was in middle school i had a strong fascination with egyptian culture (i wasted so much money on books on the topic)
then it flowered into mesoamerican culture up until late high school

and it died and i became interested in other things
but their influences watercolored my perspectives in the things i do now

yeah, interest in Greece's history seems to be about the most common one, but I can't really blame people because the mythology and such really is fascinating

I'm also very interested in Japan's history (of course), as well as China's, India's, and Mesopotamia's.
