Title: that desktop upgrade
Post by: applesauce on August 09, 2011, 03:23:28 PM
So like last week there was some memory on sale that I bought, 8gb of ddr3 1600 gskill ripjaw x series.

Then today I just bought an i7 2600k, an asus engt 550 ti, an msi p67a-g43, and a corsair h80.

I AM SO EXCITE.  happydood;

So I didn't end up purchasing the rest of the stuff yet because ING is being a bitch and holding my transfer to US Bank for 5 business days. But good thing I didn't because newegg just dropped the H80 by another $10 today (making a total price drop of $38 in just two weeks) and added free shipping. So I snapped one of those up before they can hike it back up. Now if ING gets their shut together and gives up my cash I can get the CPU, GPU, and mobo on like Monday or Tuesday I hope.

aww yeah running it at 4.6 ghz. I got it to boot a 4.9, but wasn't stable long term until 4.6. Has more thermal room, but I wanted to keep my vcore at or under 1.4 so I guess that ended up being my limit. Hits like 73 or so under full load after about 20 mins. Ambient here is like 31.

NOW I KICK ASSES

Are you saying that your computer failed at 20 mins. or you stopped it at 20 mins?

That I ran prime95 for 20 mins at each step until I got to where it wouldn't run for 20 mins, backed down one step, and then ran I overnight to make sure.

Right it wouldn't run anymore: unstable.
