It may be possible, but very labor intensive, to duplicate the look and feel of some of our themes to be based off our new themes.


However it leaves us with 2 options:

It may delay how long it takes Boyah 2.0 to launch
--or--
They may not be ready at launch and will be added a while after the launch. 


I just want to see which themes would be wanted the most.

As far as my own tastes go, I wouldn't mind if none of the new themes looked exactly like Green & Silver, but I'd like there to be at least one of the new themes (probably the most "generic looking" of them) to have color variations.

And for anyone who is curious as to why it's so difficult here's why:

-The template system for themes are completely rewritten to make it easier for mods to be installed on all themes and buttons to be more consistent (notice how the buttons differ on all of our themes). Database tables are also renamed so things like usernames can't load sometimes
-SMF2.0 uses drop down menus for it's navbar for some options so snorkel or I would have to manually adapt the existing CSS for that and test it.
-There, at least with SMF 1.1.x, is no consistency in how different sections and divs are named in different themes so copy pasting css itself won't work.

I don't really mind all new themes... Can't we always add in old ones later?

If I have them backed up, yes.

I also plan on rewriting that mod for last.fm @_@

I don't mind trying to adjust to new themes, but I'll at least say that I enjoy the look and feel of Smokes and Temple, so it'd be nice to at least have something like them to choose from.

New banners would be nice, though maybe there are some classics we should keep.

can we prease not launch until there's at least 2 completely custom themes done? I'll start working on them soon, I have some good ideas:

- clean and simple smokes-like theme (smokes updated to be 100x more awesome)
- minimal 'windows 95' theme, like with grey and simple halftones everywhere (the idea would be stripped down graphics)
- white serif theme (classy, bare look with a lot of black-on-white, italics, etc)
- dark theme

these are probably what I'll do first.

Can we get a Simple and Clean theme to go along with the clean and simple one??

I've fallen in love with the Temple theme, but I really don't think it would be too terrible to just use all new themes and adjust to them. I'm sure if it's really necessary/Nyerp complains enough, a couple of the old themes can be modified and added later on, but we don't need them.

I was actually working on completely remaking Temple (and the Saf-Multicolor php template that most other boyah themes depend on) for NSFCD before I abandoned helping them giggle;

But the progress I made was lost in one of their silly server issues

How much time did it take you.

If you can do that I'll give you access to the CSS files for the themes and make you a D.O.D @_@

Every single user has access to the CSS files; the browsers require the whole original file in order to render any page.

I could do it if you want me to, though it's not like I really need Defender of Doodthing or anything like that. I haven't touched this stuff in a long time, so maybe it'd take like two days or so befuddlement

Are you referring to the ?fin11 at the end of the url? It doesn't change the content at all and is supposedly a workaround related to certain browsers' caching mechanisms in some way.
Temple uses black.css, but I imagine the others use orange because that's the default color for Saf-Multicolor.

i was referring to when you try to edit our themes via smf itself you'll get an error since style.css doesn't exit and only orange.css duz

It's pretty fucking old now, but I can't really stand other themes just because I'm used to it.

Boyay 2.0 themes will be a substantial improvement.  hocuspocus;

The only one of those I much like is smokes, but I'd honestly rather snorkel make a new theme.
