It's because the dark is reserved for those who want to sleep. I don't want to wake up at 6 in the morning and still see the night sky. The sun is supposed to pop its head just over the horizon around that time.
I suppose the only good thing about it is that since my drive ranges from 30-35 minutes every day for school, Thursdays I end at 5. The sun will still be up on my drive home.
