I've been thinking about buying a Jetta because they're so cheap. What does? Suggestions for buying your first car?

New car would be nice. Of course used is fine (even better depending on its condition).

Yeah, I wish I knew people selling their old cars.

Decide upon a budget and go from there.
Go check out some used dealerships just to kind of get a gauge of local prices and everything.
But, check the classifieds and look for street sales.
I only paid about $1200 for mine and it was in pretty fantastic condition with only 70000 miles.

vw make nice cars but they are expensive to repair and since you are buying used there is a good chance something wrong will be with them

i get the impression that you can't go wrong with a honda

Honda Civic
Toyota Corolla
Hyundai Elantra
Chevy Cruze

Also, by inexpensive I mean 2011 models starting at around 15K. Any other suggestions for inexpensive cars?

yeah cars depreciate in value so fucking much, unless you've got too much money or are just stupid there are really no benefits at all for getting a brand new car
