Title: IPv4 exhaustion
Post by: bluaki on February 03, 2011, 08:49:46 PM
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPv4_address_exhaustion and plenty of other sources exist

Today, the last of the possible IPv4 addresses were assigned to the regional Internet registries. But this is just the first stage of exhaustion; the registries haven't allocated all of these IPs elsewhere yet, but are expected to run out soon (between 6 months and 2-3 years).

And then we'll have IPv6 and people going crazy due to transition giggle;

The only problem I would have with this is I will never be able to play Dark Reign online again.

recently my isp just bought a lot of ip numbers from rogers, causing every website i go to to either block me because "you are not located in the US" or show me gay canadian singles advertisements

it amazes me that IPv6 is STILL not very present at all, even in top-tier IP transit... of five datacenters I own servers in right now, USA and Europe, only 2 of them have IPv6 integrated and ready to provision, and only on a 'test basis'
