u no there are feminists that don't think women are more superior rite
you're just attacking the crazed feminists that believe that women are oppressed and amplify feminine nature with pink
although, i'm pretty sure a feminist-philosophy class would have a crazed feminist as the professor yes;
feminism studies usually have more to do with simply observing women and their roles rather than trying to put women on a pedestal, but okay
I only have a choice between "Law and Morality" and "Feminist Philosophy." My area of concentration is continental philosophy, so I'm already familiar with most of the feminist philosophers, and I loath pre-law students. LOATH THEM. So of course I'm going to take feminist philosophy. :)
It's really not that bad.
Logic is going to be worse.

I get on liberal arts majors like kaz a lot but at least with writing you can get jobs with papers and magazines though you don't really need a degree for those, it helps. idk what, other than teaching philosophy classes, the degree is useful for.

It'll get me a Bachelor's degree, and that's what I'm after.
I don't plan to use it. I know a lot of people in my department are studying philosophy to get into law school. It's great for that. If you want to go into graduate school for Philosophy, you basically need a degree in it... But after graduate school, you're probably not going to teach since it's hard to get a position as a professor in philosophy right now.
You mostly study philosophy because you enjoy studying it. Philo majors don't really think about using it. We're silly that way.

And the money I'm spending is going towards an education which I feel can be utilized in more than just a job setting. So far I'm very satisfied with what I've taken away from my college experience, and I think it's money well spent.

especially since being cooped up in a classroom reading from books is the best way to 'learn' about oneself and others. if people want to understand human nature, they should go live a jolly good life, then critically think it over. they should not study hollow labels for things already felt and known.

CLEP exams can only replace introductory courses
say if you want to take Child Psych but the prerequisite is Psychology 101--a CLEP course would immediately remove that basic course and grant you Child Psych. The school would count it as an actual course and give you the credits, and it's cheap as well.
I'm poor as fuck and if I take as many of these courses as possible, I'd save time and money (FAFSA grants me a shitload so I'd rack up the leftover dough I haven't used and spend it on weird shit)
I'm undeclared for my major now--I'm either thinking in majoring in biomedical science or biology and transfer to a medical school and magically end up as a pathologist or become a psychoneuroimmunologist. yes;

I was a biology major until a few weeks ago, when I realized I can't do basic math and simply cannot comprehend chemistry for shit, therefore cannot possibly succeed in half the required premed classes or on the MCAT, and the medical field is pretty much the only thing worth doing after getting an undergrad biology degree.

But yea, halfway through the semester I decided I couldn't handle one more chem class, or one more 2 hour laboratory. So I switched.

Exactly what I do, especially in chem lab. I feel like I can't even figure out how to do the most simple things and I pretty much ask my instructor through the entire procedure.
Not to mention my partner is fucking useless and usually hungover (i have lab thursday afternoon, how does that even work?).
Guys, I realized I don't want to be an architect.
I am interested in so many things relating to the field, but I'm realizing that I would probably be pretty unhappy in actual architectural practice.
I think I would rather do urban planning or development as a career.
It is a good thing I had over a semester's worth of AP credit, because I can probably still finish in 4 years, I think.
Help advise me, these are my options:
1. Stay in B. Arch here at IIT. 5 years.
2. Switch to Stuart School of Business, still at IIT, B.S. in Business Administration, minor in Architecture. 4 years.
3. Switch to Stuart School of Business, still at IIT, B.S. in Business Administration & Applied Sciences, specialization in Construction Management, minor in Architecture. 4 years. (but I don't want to take shitty bio, chem, and upper level calc, dur)
4. Switch to Social Science department, still at IIT, B.S. in Political Science, specialization in Urban Affairs, minor in Architecture. 4 years. (but isn't PS a bullshit degree?)
5. There is a strange B.S. Politcal Science/M.S. Public Affairs program here. I think it would be 5 years.
6. Transfer to UIC, B.A. in Urban Planning & Public Affairs. Would probably take an extra semester.
7. Transfer to the U of M, B.S. in Urban Studies. Would probably take an extra semester, maybe even 2.
I think #3 is probably the best option, but I really don't want to take hard calc and bio and chem and such.

What does Boyah think?
Those all sound so similar I don't see how you could go wrong.
Personally I think # 2 sounds most appealing.
Only dummies like me major in PS, don't do that. Also, don't do #3 if you really cant stand those other classes and your other options are so similar.
My dad thinks I should stick with architecture.
His reasons:
1. Undergraduate business degrees are relatively worthless IRL.
2. Most successful developers start with a technical degree.
3. Analytical skills taught in engineering and related fields are a lot harder to learn on your own than principles of business.
I just don't know.

Exactly what I do, especially in chem lab. I feel like I can't even figure out how to do the most simple things and I pretty much ask my instructor through the entire procedure.
Not to mention my partner is fucking useless and usually hungover (i have lab thursday afternoon, how does that even work?).
you made feel scurred
also only statistics is required in my major
unfortunately i have to take two courses of physics :( (never again with magnetism)
maybe i should change and go into psycho-rehabilitation

Got everything I wanted giggle;
With the exception of social dance, which I guess PE majors have priority for and I can't sign up for until phase 2. Bullshit.

doodthing;
i have to take 16 next semester
16 classes? holy fuckballs.
i've never had to take more than like 5 or 6 classes a semester (at least 15 credits) and i'm finishing just fine in my degree, right on time
hell, i almost managed to get my degree a semester early, if it weren't for the senior project
I think he means total meetings. I'm pretty sure it's impossible to take 16 actual classes in a semester.
lol kaz

Yo i'm a freshman and I have college credits transfered from high school, and classes for my major are full because freshmen are last priority. Yay bullshit classes

are you going to reason with me now confuseddood;
I have this constant nagging thought that I am making a big mistake not doing Bio actually.
I feel like it really is what I should be doing, but I fucking hate it >.<
It's tearing me apart on the inside.

Welcome to the club!
I was a biology major at first, but I hated it because it felt like pointless memorization. I fooled around with other classes, and stumbled upon philosophy which I enjoyed much more. It's now my major. :)
When I first made the switched, I felt like I should still study biology... SOOOO I added it back as my minor... But after a couple of semesters I realized it wasn't for me.
I still contemplate going back and taking a science course. All I need is to finish the second semester of o-chem, and I have my minor AND the prerequisites to medical school.... BUUUUUUUUT I know that it would ultimately be a waste of time because I don't have an interest in it, and it's not apart of my dream.
You just have to follow your passion.... And switch to philosophy. goowan
i find biology to be incredibly interesting
except i'm very lazy when it comes to memorization and don't bother with it (i assume it's as flexible and easy like psychology) so i fall hard and feel trapped by my false sense of confidence ("i waaaant to understaaaaand--lol what chemistry fuck that, baaw why can't i understand anything")
i don't understand why i have to take goddamn magnetism and electricity for it though baddood;

Are you in Biology? confuseddood;
And I agree that Biology can be interesting. I just don't like studying it. I also HATE microbiology. Chemical processes don't interest me.
Physics is fun, though! I would be a physics/math major if my first school had a good math department (or a physics department at all). Also, magnetism and electricity were required for only premed bio majors. I'm not sure why.

i'm in bioscience giggle;
mathematics and physics require me to use a different form of thinking--my thinking is very visualistic and gesalt like. it's very useful for the social sciences and humanities, and for art courses, but for mathematics and the like it drains me excessively.
i can't visualize numbers and formulas at all :(
even something like chemistry or biology i can somewhat visualize what i'm doing, but with something like math i'm just completely lost cry;

That's the problem though, I am pretty sure my passion is Biology.
Too bad I have to fucking take tons of chem, math, and physics along with it madood;
Oh well, I would say my other passion is arguing and being overly opinionated, so Poli Sci is good for me too.
Plus the desire to maybe become a teacher came to me as a freshman in high school and hasn't left me for a second, so I may very well end up just becoming a teacher.
And I would probably rather teach social studies than biology anyway.
