Title: is there any real point in balancing checkbooks anymore
Post by: Samus Aran on October 22, 2010, 04:16:56 PM
my mom always gets after me about how i haven't entered anything in my checkbook in like a whole year, because honestly i don't see any point in it

i could just go online, go to my bank, and look at a list of transactions to get exactly the same information

does anyone actually bother balancing checkbooks anymore  akudood;

I'm not even sure what that means. Write out your transactions in a little book?

Anyway, yeah, my credit union (lol we're such socialists in qc ^_^) has a website for that.

It's pointless nowadays. Just like you said, everything is online. I even have my bank as an iPod touch app.

I deposited $1360 in checks last night and they still aren't showing in my account doodthing;

This is a reason to balance checkbooks since something transactions such as paychecks take a while to post. It gets more complicated when it happens between statements.

Exactly, I've gone days without spending money, but my statement will still change as things update
