MY FRIEND JUST TOLD ME AND I DID NOT KNOW IF THIS WAS COMMON KNOWLEDGE BUT:
http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/media/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d8024d5307f1/?p=1&of=6&pid=00000001-0000-4000-8000-00004d5307f1&bt=0&sb=1&did=00000001-0000-4000-8000-00004d5307f1
LOG IN DOWNLOAD TO XBOX. HOLY SHIT THIS IS THE FIRST FREE THING MICROSOFT HAS GIVEN AWAY FOR A LONG ASS TIME. DO IT EVEN IF YOU WILL NEVER PLAY IT!
Also the DLC is all free (not sure why there is a "premium" version, but they are the exact same size):

"Sorry
This item is not available for purchase from Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the Web."
in addition, it's $20
so what the fuck are you talking about
nice joke, kono
The funny thing is Kono isn't joking. It was on the Microsoft Support twitter earlier and it's only the first "Episode" of Fable II. Not the full game.
Some sources are saying it is the full game and Microsoft fucked up, but I dunno.
I own the game, the only thing that interests me is the DLC that comes with it.
And it does work at the marketplace what are you people talking about? It says free to me.

oh, it's farther down the page, lol.
i would try it but i honestly don't feel like playing it to find out if it's more than the first episode.
Downloading it now, guess I'll be confirming the first episode thing soon.
My friend saw it here first: http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2300565&page=11
But then it was posted on Destructoid an hour or two ago: http://www.destructoid.com/so-it-looks-like-fable-ii-is-a-free-download-right-now
yeah destructoid says it's the entire game also.
And as you can expect: servers clogged, M$ probably noticed, but whatever, I got it queued and DLing.
ALSO for it to be Free, you HAVE to be logged in. As the slickdeals links says.
and now, just trying it just for the hell of it, it says it's not available for purchase.
Yeah, Destructoid says it's the full game, and I just noticed that Fable 2 (this one) is downloading completely separately from the FABLE 2 on my hard drive which is the episode 1 trial. So yeah, it's the full game.
The queuing worked instantly for me after I hit download to xbox, and it even stalled the download because I was on XBL with Halo: Reach.
when i click "download to xbox 360" i always just get this:
QuoteSorry
This item is not available for purchase from Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the Web.
I just queued all of the DLC, and I just got the congratulations your item has been queued.
Some people have noted that on certain browsers they end up with error messages, so that might be an issue.
I just used firefox, and everything has gone smoothly
tried it on firefox, still get the error message
not Free anymore hocuspocus;
Yeah I'm getting the same error message Kaz got.
Well, apparently the party's over if your try to join now.
http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/708087/Fable-2-Available-For-Free-On-Xbox-MarketplaceFor-Now.html
Yeah, G4 reporting that it's fixed now albeit it still shows up as Free, you are guarenteed to get that message when you try to queue it.
I'm not sure how my friend found out about the slickdeals thing, but thank god for him finding out before tons of other people did.
Also, just for more clarification: the fable 2 episodes, came in about 1gb flavors each, and when you trialed the first episode they only gave you part of chapter 1. So yeah, confirmed for the full game while it lasted.
This was either Honestly a mistake someone made when they made the free DLC on the site, or a big marketing stunt to get people hooked before Fable 3 is released. Then again if it were the latter, it would have been available for longer than roughly 12 hours and not taken down so hastily.
EDIT: Apparently this happened when Gears of War 2 was uploaded to Games on Demand, was free to download for about 2 hours.
Also this is exploitable whenever the xbox.com servers are reset.

Your friend probably found it on /v/, which was the same place I found it. There was a topic and a link to that site - no fuck trusted it at first till' someone confirmed it working with pictures. Your friend most likely found it there too.
Regardless, it was a good mistake or deal whilst it lasted, shame if it was a mistake it escalated so quickly that they patched it fast.

He told me he had slickdeals.com as his homepage a while ago he ordered some PC parts there since someone posted a newegg deal. Not sure why he didnt just make newegg his homepage and made it slickdeals, but he did, and as soon as he opened up his browser free fable 2 was the first thing listed. I honestly didn't believe him until I checked it out myself, and I was shocked.
I now have it as my homepage as well and saw this today:
