Title: getting a gun
Post by: snorkel on July 12, 2010, 11:15:07 PM
at long last, I will finally be purchasing my first firearm. I had previously resigned myself to rifle ownership since MN requires a permit to purchase (but not to just possess) handguns, which is restricted to individuals age 21 or above. recently it's come to my attention that the frequent military paraphernalia shows around the cities (which I used to attend in young age, there's a huge selection available) would provide an easy venue for the unregistered, no-permit-required purchase of such items.

Initially I'd like an old revolver (american, a .45) and some variety of foreign 9mm.

Edit: Also MN says 21+ for Permit to Carry license, I want my rights now  baddood;

So you can be drafted and entrusted with weaponry when 18 but you need to wait until you can legally drink alcohol for them to entrust you with one on your own?

I don't understand the world

It's ridiculous that there is even a question as to whether citizens can carry weapons

You can't trust everyone with a weapon... some things need to be regulated. You can't just hand out hand grenades to everyone that wants to have a hand grenade

i salute and congratulate you sir; this is a fine decision. as soon as i turn 21, purchase and ownership (as well as proficiency) of arms is right at the top of things that need to get done. for starters, i have my eye on a beautiful .40 s&w, with stunning lines.

oh god I remember when  I got my first gun giggle;

my father bought it for me on my 14th birthday, it was a 12 gauge and my friend's mom engraved my name and some awesome designs onto the stock

my father had a few nifty guns of his own
a simple .22 revolver and .22 short rifle, a 1908 police edition .38, a fucking desert eagle, .303 british rifle, and two matching .357 magnums.

the only gun that he ever paid for was the one he purchased for me, he had such awesome ways of getting all kinds of things for free
