I made a live CD, burnt the ISO, all that good stuff. I loaded it into the computer, blahblahblah. All of a sudden a screen says "log in" and I haven't even installed it yet. What do I log in as?
I love Linux Mint and I use it all the time and i have no idea what you're talking about
yeah I don't know, it doesn't display the boot options like it does with fedora or ubuntu

To be fair, Mint is pretty much the same as Ubuntu except with all the codecs preinstalled. If you were doing fine with Ubuntu, you're not missing out.

There's an account for a live session... I think. Have you tried just waiting? Maybe you got a bad CD. Try it on another computer. Do other live CDs work?
And yeah Mint is basically Ubuntu + codecs.
