So dig this and put on your imagination hats kiddies.
There's this mayfly, see, and he's having a good time, getting his kicks with some friends. He's seeing the world through bright eyes. Everything is mighty fine.
Mayfly goes out with some of his other mayfly buddies. They're shooting the shit at the bar next to some weathered beetles who keep giving them the stink eye. They decide to head out. Mayfly forgets his hat in the bar and heads back in. One of the beetles laughs and makes a poke at mayfly, implying he's gone senile.
"What the hell does that mean?" says the mayfly. "I've got my whole life ahead of me."
"Well go out and enjoy your day", replies the beetle. "It's the only one you've got. You'll be dead in about seventeen hours. You know you've only got a day to live, right?"
Mayfly is shattered. His dreams dashed and broken, he decides to have another drink at the bar. He gets drunk and passes out on the floor. Several hours later he wakes up and tries to stand but his knees are creaking and stubborn. His face is covered in a mossy white mat that resembles a sorcerers beard and his mind is moving slow from the drink and his apparant age. He trips down the stairs of the bar and cracks his neck before an oncoming car tears away the top segment of his body. Apparently his life flashed before his eyes, but he couldn't remember it.
Later a super concentrated beam of sunlight ravaged the few wooden structures in the city, including the bar and the beetles inhabiting it.
Pity.
