Title: Wake-up calls
Post by: Selkie on May 28, 2010, 09:32:05 PM
have you ever seen or experienced something relatively simple that ended up having a major change on your self as a person?

A couple I can name are...

I was sort of on the fence about gay couples getting the right to adopt, but then I saw my health teacher (who is a lesbian) outside of class and she was sitting on a bench with a little boy, showing him something in a book, and she was just so tender and caring. And I thought how she would be such a better mother than a lot of straight women out there. So my opinion on gay adoption was sort of finalized.

Also, this isn't exactly small, but seeing my grandma with cancer and how she is just withering away I think affected my decision to change my major from teaching to bio and pursue a career in health care.

What about u guyz

i used to read a lot when i was younger so i would read things on like geology, evolution, and other sciency things and then i read the bible.

this presented a problem because i couldn't reconcile the two, even ignoring the internal issues with the bible.

we know how this turned out.  baddood;

also affected. to tell what word to use, substitute "impacted" and if it make sense it's most likely affected.

This on/off friendship/one-sided-romance with a guy I went to camp with...I projected a lot of my problems onto him and had to develop a lot of my courage, learn how to take care of my hypersensitive emotions, how not to cope, how to pay attention to what's important, how to be true to your identity. I see him pretty regularly now, and I still get a jolt to the heart when I see him. I'm trying to keep moving, though.
