Title: My roommate's 10-year-old brother doesn't know what ninja turtles are

He's TEN. He hasn't heard of the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES.

Shit I'm old. :(

There was probably some gay show you'd never heard of when you were ten, either.

APPARENTLY I AM.

Kids who are old enough to discuss cartoons they USED to watch don't know what the ninja turtles are. Are you kidding me?

I was wondering if kids these days know who Mickey Mouse is. This might be a stupid question since Mickey is so iconic and everything, but it's not like Disney has been using him for anything in the past few years.

My brother apparently never read Where the Wild Things Are, so whenever he sees the commercial for the movie, and sees me getting excited over it, he always likes to make fun of me for it (damn 14 year olds). Now, granted, I don't really remember exactly what happened in the book because I was so young when I read it, but the characters definitely look familiar to me. But my brother never even read the book. Poor child.

However, everyone at every age has stuff that they had as a kid that seems awesome and great to them, but for anyone who is younger, they will never get to experience it because they weren't around when it was popular. Look at the awesomeness of old Nickelodeon shows like Salute Your Shorts or Legends of the Hidden Temple, for example. None of today's kids will ever watch these amazing shows because they've been cancelled for well over a decade. Instead, they will watch whatever is on TV nowadays.

The same thing happens with every generation.

Older generations don't understand either. Just like I don't understand how anyone could enjoy today's cartoons like Flapjack. But kids do, somehow.

It's a generational divide.

Flapjack is the absolute wrong example to pick. It's the only good cartoon to come out of the last five years, and it's really good.

Having recently watched Legends of the Hidden Temple I can tell you that it wasn't horrible but much more hilarious. Kaz is right, although there are a few shows that held up well, like Rocko's Modern Life and Dexter's Lab
