Title: A Serious Man
Post by: snorkel on October 01, 2009, 01:06:05 PM
Coen Brothers' new movie. I got to see a screening of it yesterday (it comes out tomorrow), and it was excellent.

For those unaware, it's about a Jewish family in a suburb of Minneapolis that was at the time (and still kind of) very very Jewish... the whole thing was filmed around where I live. It's black comedy, and pretty typical Coen Bros. More serious than Burn After Reading (and a lot better I'd say), not as masterful as No Country for Old Men although a lot of the cinematography and things like that impressed me.

Also if anyone sees it, the beach scene is the same beach I smoke at all the time (they made it look like the 70s though), and one of the kids who talks on the schoolbus near the beginning is someone (a jew) I know who got a part as an extra.

How do you get into these screenings? I've always wanted to do that.
But yeah it sounds good I'll try and see it.
