Colbert has had plenty of awesome artists on, like Rush, The Decemberists, TV On The Radio, Wilco, etc.

There's some crazy mixing going on here...they changed the levels for Convinced of the Hex I think, maybe some other things...yeah, definitely. It's a lower-quality version, so that no one could record the stream and be satisfied.

but I'm happy to hear it.

I almost ordered it, and then held myself back. The Colbert thing impressed me, but not enough for me to shell out that much. I don't even have that much right now.

honestly i don't think there's anything you need to "get." they might seem that way at first, but the flaming lips aren't really cryptic or anything, really quite straightforward, even if they use abstractions and really odd ways of putting things together. their simplicity in their messages is one reason i think the flaming lips really work.

I really really like Transmissons from a Satelite heart, or whatever its called. Great album. The rest of the albums i downloaded just didn't have amazing songs like that album, just scattered points of (imo) ok songs the rest were forgettable.  but i don't hate them, just prefer not to listen to them.
