there's this girl in the band that i like and i want to take her somewhere to hang out sometime within the next week or so, but i don't want it to feel like a date. what's a good idea for something casual that we can do that can be a little more fun and flirtatious than just having a conversation at school while not having the pressure of a date?
What about just a casual lunch? nowhere too expensive or fancy but just a nice restaurant to grab a bite to eat and just chat. Or hang out at your local mall or something anything like that really is just hanging out and fun without the seriousness of a date.
A pizza place or something simple.
Don't make it just you two at first. Bring some friends, but give her most of the attention.

that ruins everything
Casual? If it's casual, sure it's about him and her...but they're not to the point of being close yet.

Pretty much. We haven't been talking all that long, but I think that she likes me and I like her, so I just want to do something where we can spend a bit more time together. I'm not looking for a formal date or anything, just something casual so we can get to know one another better and maybe lay the foundation for more of a real date later on.
Here's a plan.
Do the cheap meal and maybe bowling. Invite her with other friends. It'll be fun and you two will get to know each other.
It'll take a little while to get where you want, but it'll work.
OH and if she can't don't cancel hanging out with friends because then you'll look like a dick.
There will be chances for this. No worries.
alright, i'll see what i can do
Bowling is, especially, a wonderful idea, as long as you don't look like a weirdo kid who likes bowling. Try to sell it as something different and interesting, and that's an ace in the hole.
You're good at this, Tyler. giggle;

I was going to suggest bowling.
