I've been thinking a lot about college lately. Stressing is probably a better word than thinking. Regardless, I'm just curious how it differs from daily life. From the snippets that I've heard about college, an average day consists of a few hours of classes, and then you get to play vidya in your dorm for the rest of the day. Enlighten me.
Yeah, that's pretty much it, unless you bother to have a social life.
My schedule seems to be easy for the first semester, but I'm not really interested in the classes.

Honestly, how much time do you spend studying/doing school work each day?

2.5 - 4 hours of class in a typical day, with usually at least one day of the week being less or more than that
maybe an hour a day of homework, at least for my kinds of classes, which at this point are all english courses of some sort
back when i had other types of classes, it was more like two hours a day of homework, if that...but i never had to take math, so yeah

You still have a year left no reason to stress yet.
Anyway I'll tell you when I get there. Though I always study less than everyone so my reports might not be entirely accurate.
I just found out that my school is suposedly the biggest party school in MA. giggle;
unfrtunately for me if I fail even one class (D counts as failing) then I'll lose my 30K scholarship and have to drop out. Soooo I really have to pay attention to homework and whatnot.

I'm pretty sure UMass Amherst gets that title.

Maybe, but Worcester has more party schools all in a much closer proximity. Combined, we are unstoppable. akudood;
For this coming august when I go, I have class every day, and like 4 hours of class tuesdays and thursdays. But my last class on fridays is over at 10am, which i'm psyched about.

how early do your classes start?
I have 3 classes a day. but none of them start before 9:00 Wednesday I only have one class.
My average day of college consisted of waking up at 9 AM, falling asleep for 40 minutes, taking a 3 minute shower and sprinting (not literally) to my 9:55 class. I'd have 2-3 hours of class, come back, eat lunch, and basically do nothing productive until 2 in the morning when I might do homework for an hour.

You'll probably end up regretting scheduling classes so early. It sounds good on paper, but I ended up hating it regardless of being done so early.
HEY HEY GUYS
i got my room assignment today! I'm so excited, mostly because I already know a good amount of people in my building (even though I've never heard of my roommate, but that'll change soon).
you pass out at 3 wake up at ten go out to eat and then do it again.
wake up.
get high.
go to class.
eat.
chill/get high some more.
study.
get high some more.
sleep.
repeat.
College sounds pretty nice. I just hope I learn to study. I could definitely boost my grades with studying, but I really don't need it. I go to school, I learn, I manage to get my homework done, and that's it. I almost never study but I pass all my classes with a B+ average.
Is a ton of studying necessary to succeed in college? I always hear about students having three hours of class and three hours of studying every day, but I'm not sure if it's out of necesity or out of being studious.

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT, rely on the professor or time in class to learn the necessary material.
They give you the syllabus for a reason; if you teach yourself the material you will be much much better off. Obviously, if you need help then don't hesitate to go get it.

Yes, studying is absolutely necessary, at least for most classes that have a fair amount of exams.
Ask myself why I'm still there.
How do I handle math courses in college? Do most math professors neglect to teach necessary material until 24 hours before the final exam? I'm taking a 300 level course in the fall while attending high school. >_>

I wouldn't suggest doing that.
