Saw this on Kotaku, so many of you guys have probably seen it as well.
Sadly, most of my friends would have probably said the same things about it :(
Hmmm. That's a shocker. Parents letting their 10 year old child play Halo.
Besides the point, I don't think anyone born beyond 1995 appreciates older games.
nah its naught liek halo 3 mann i dunt liek it
what if one day there were only a few people who could sing the super mario theme off the top of their head?
i would cry ;_;

I can't tell if you're serious or not.
Because a ton of kids are allowed to play halo around here...

Halo isn't very violent. I still don't see how it has an M rating.
But still get those damn 10 year old off mah internet
If he gave Contra a "9/10" on difficulty, he's going to give Battletoads at least an 11. baddood;
I'm also somewhat curious as to what the kid would say if he played Ikaruga, Gradius, or some other relatively bullet-hellish shump.

Take a random 11 year old kid and take his reactions. It will be very similar.
Gradius is incredibly easy when it comes to shmups, Star. It's not bullet hell in the least. Even Ikaruga is relatively easy compared to some, though it certainly is hard as hell.
Then again, so are Contra and Battletoads.

It may not be, but it isn't suited for T either. It'd be nice if we had a 15+ ratting, though.

They were the only examples I could think of off the top of my head, and I don't play many shumps either, so I don't know the really hard ones.
Also, I'm somewhat afraid of what an 11 year old's reaction would be when comparing the Genesis/Master Drive Sonic games to any Sonic game made in the past 5 or so years.

Well, just don't look at any videos that have to do with the newer games.
...I know that with Unleashed out, there are a lot of people who are saying that old Sonic was boring and slow.
I'm so happy I taught my nephews to appreciate the classics. They may be 8, but bald bull doesn't stand a chance.

I'm listening to "The Kids Don't Stand a Chance" - Vampire Weekend right now and right when I read over "doesn't stand a chance" the song said "don't stand a chance".
It was weird akudood;

Why in my day we walked 10 miles uphill in the snow just so we could buy a new game for our Sega Genesis or SNES, and games back then were cartridges and not one of today's newfangled DVDs or BlueRaes or digitalwhatsits you younguns use now.

Bald Bull is so easy anyway baddood;
whenever i try to play an older game and it's too hard i just quit and never touch it again lol
oddly, I seem to find a lot of newer games to be much harder than older ones O_0
but at the same time, it's a different kind of difficulty, where the old games required thinking and skill to move forward, while newer games just kind of throw shit at you just to make it harder to get through

but the hardest old games were just the throw shit at you type as well akudood;
or a combination of throw shit at you and having one-hit deaths or at least really fast deaths
like contra and various shmups and battletoads
except for Ecco that was just fucking ridiculous timing and retarded puzzles as well as dying quickly
god damn i hate that game

my friend's younger brother who is like 8 is way into older games. he has an n64, genesis, atari 2600, and like a GBC.
As scary as it is, one day, there will be kids who don't see any fun in Pokemon Red and Blue.

Mega Man games are really only hard until you figure out the bosses' weaknesses anyway.
