I was expecting to sit around a bonfire and converse with drunken in-law relatives and neighbors like I always do on the 4th, except this year it was awesome:

blue is me, the large dots are like people's fucking house parties or something with these gargantuan professional fireworks (full on fancy huge mortar shit, which is not legal here) that they set off from about 10:00-10:30, one after another, and all of the different people doing it at once (so like 5 aweosme fireworks shows in the sky at once) ... and the smaller dots are ones in the background we could kind of see above the tree line

and this was just on our little bay

surprisingly cool. plus the weather was great and the lake was glassy and quiet
