This summer I'm going to build a home media/file server. I'll use it for backing up shit I don't want on my iMac (like the hundreds of "resources" folders I have full of images and PSDs, and movies, and else)
it will have
Mobo: SUPERMICRO MBD-X7SBL-LN2 LGA 775 Intel 3200 Micro ATX (has a bunch of sata ports and nice stuff for server)
HDDs: 2x Seagate Barracuda 250gb 7200rpm 16mb cache
Raid: Raid controller is on mobo I think, them SATA drives will be mirroring
RAM: 2x Kingston 2gb DDR2 800
...and that's all. stick it in a shitty old case and I plan to run CentOS + WHM/cPanel.
so does this mean that your computer will goes fast as shit
go all out and get a 2 terabyte harddrive
and better than ddr2 800 jeez
