I live on an isthmus between Lake Mendota and Lake Monona. If that doesn't count, Madison is kind of sort of close to the Great Lakes I guess...

The Colorado River is probably the closest but it isn't very big... but it flows through the Grand Canyon so maybe that makes it sound bigger.
There are a lot of little lakes here, but nothing big.

Three different ones. For Baudette, where I live when I'm not at school, the Rainy River runs right through town plus the town is very close to Lake of the Woods, which is the biggest lake in the whole state.
In Bemidji, where I go to school and where I'm at most of the school year, the university sits right on Lake Bemidji.
