the isometric pyramid cubes thing like in q-bert? there's a name for geometric things like that but I can't think of it.

yeah but there's a name specifically for geometric patterns that repeat themselves like this

it's probably somewhere on the Escher page

A fractal?

Though Q*bert isn't an example of this many Eschers are.
