Title: Where do you want to live
Post by: YPrrrr on February 01, 2009, 11:23:04 PM
As I was having a conversation with Hiro, I've come to the realization that Arizona may just be my future residence of choice. It seems that the state has the ability to blur the distinction between civilization and nature. I'm romanticizing the idea of being able to be a part of society when I want to and then being able to escape into the open landscape when I become overwhelmed. Its southwestern influences, especially on architecture, also intrigue me since it would be vastly different from anything I've experienced before. I'm bound to be disillusioned on many of these qualities, but right now it just seems like somewhere I would really enjoy living... or maybe the Wisconsin cold is just getting to me and so I crave warmth, one of those two.

So where would you want to be living in, say... 15 years, and why?

Somewhere in Asia or a Euro country. But I'm afraid if I leave my shitland L.A., I'll miss it. I already miss going downtown every week, makes me almost wish my parents had opened that cigarette + cafe store.

I hate rural areas and farms omg. I despise of those places. Even though the city has it's cons and pollution, the countryside just scares me. Beaches are nice because I like water(for now) as long as there is civilization.

But really, I want to live in an abyss deep in the ocean and see how it feels, but not forever, just to see. I know I just said I didn't like rural area, but I meant more of a farm-desert-mountain thing, not underwater. Or the moon, but I'd be too scared.  >.<

Awww :) Arizona
In the Northern cities I think those things are more apparent than in Phoenix so it's hard for me to say.

I am going to college in Toronto and will be excited to live there. I've always loved the Pacific Northwest though so... I may want to spend life after college there.

It all depends on my future with Chels. Right now, where I'd like to eventually live is Seaside, Oregon, in the beach house that she will likely be inheriting. I absolutely love the ocean, and I quite like that city in particular. I think it would be a great atmosphere to live in...and write in.

Woah, awesome thread. thumbup; now i feel like i'm going to ruin it :( skylark, you're going to college in canada? well anyways, i think that california has a great variety, new york city is full of culture, and i hear salt lake city is awesome. Although i still think it would be the coolest thing ever to live in sweden, at least for a few years.

But skylark is right, It's way more apparent in northern arizona, i used to live there. Sedona, Prescott, and Flagstaff would all be nice, even though Flagstaff is all foresty, it isn't at all what would come to mind when thinking of arizona.

I really have no clue and haven't even decided where I want to go to college.

I adore huge cities, so places like Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea would be ideal. Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and France also seem really cool, but their cities just look so dull. Also, I hate white people.

Australia is my first choice.  Canada is nice too and it's closer. I think about neutral countries.

Somewhere out west. Arizona, Utah, Southern California, that area.

I love the landscape and the climate. I am sick of the cold.

Well, then you should try New York City... considering it's one of the biggest cities in the world. And you can stay in the greatest country in the world.

That's the plan...

Southern California all looks the same to me but Northern California can be beautiful. I don't think I would ever want to live there. I went to Salt Lake City one time and I think maybe it's just that I don't like mormons. Think: a city full of Stillman, Rebecca and Michael Ward... and all of their BFFs.

Phoenix is sort of lame.

You plan on it or you actually got into a college there?
Yeah mormons aren't awesome but my uncle moved there and he said it's  great. Everything's happy and clean, etc. I wouldn't want to live there either, but I still hear it's nice.

Phoenix is pretty lame, but then again most people feel that way about wherever they live.  n_u

I will get into college into college there, that's not really an issue. Why would I have applied already? I still have half of my junior year left.
I am sure it's clean but... It just seems barren, like all of Utah. It's beautiful there and there are some amazing spots for canyonering but that really isn't worth much. If you want a clean city go to Portland.

I disagree with that... If I think of the last person I talked to about the quality of the city they live in they adore it. I can't really remember anything past that. Except for how much Rachel L. loves it in Phoenix and wants to live here forever. It's hot and is hardly accessible if you don't have a car.
