One of my favorite things to do is to go to a book store and buy books based on their cover design.
I bought this book today for no reason other than I love the photo on the cover:

Discuss first impressions.
If I see someone at school wearing cat ears I will not go anywhere near them. saddood;
Whenever I go to CD Warehouse, if I'm not looking for anything in particular, I'll buy something based just on what the sticker/cover art is.
This has led to me getting a lot of early, early terrible first person flying/shooter games but also some true masterpieces (eg. Metal Storm, Actraiser 2, Bangai O)
And whenever I want something like food at school, I always ask a negro lady. They may crack jokes about whitey 24/7, but they're often some of the most generous people in the world. spam;
Yes, I judge books by covers too, and have put off reading some books for months because I hate the cover. I also always make sure I buy the edition of a book with the best cover

Furry hater.
I do that for books at the library. I won't even consider it if it has a bad cover.
that's the only reason i read books.
i go to the liberry.
and look at the covers.
and if the cover is uninteresting and boring.
i don't read the book/

ok i'm sorry but i had to point this out
please tell me that was a joke :'(
Anyway, I never buy something simply based on how it looks. I always do research before purchasing a game or something. powerofone;
If they are female, I will be afraid to talk to them. If they are male, I automatically assume they are either a moron, a jackass, a jock, or perhaps a combination of the three.

you seem like a combination of the first two befuddlement
If I read books based on their covers, I probably never would have gotten around to this:

Maybe I would have assumed Holden was gay. Or just that the book is really boring. But it's my favorite book ever.
Yeah I do it all the time, seems to work out fine for me.

I have that book sitting on my desk right now. n_u
i loved it
and my teacher probably hates me for not handing it back in yet
I like the covers for J.D Salinger books
but I really prefer Franny and Zooey to Catcher in the Rye
Not to say that Catcher in the Rye isn't amazing, it really is.
I also thought of my favorite book which is the Fountainhead and the cover of my copy is very plain

I can't really think of anything else.

This is why I got the one with the other cover:

It doesn't really have anything to do with the book, but at least it looks cool.
man i loved the catcher in the rye.
it was soo good.

You and everybody else in your class.
My copy is less intimidating and the pages have a nicer texture.

I do somewhat of the same. I cannot buy a book with the cover from the movie version if it exists.

Holy shit I was gonna mention Catcher in the Rye's terrible cover O_0
Also, Slaughterhouse Five has a pretty bad cover.
So I don't think the cover really defines the book, but it is certainly important. I will definitely try out much quicker if it has a cool cover.
